COEX, State Of The Art Technology For multi-layer containers

For contents that attack ordinary plastic, a single-layer container is the wrong tool. COEX gives you several materials in one container wall, each doing a different job.

What COEX is

COEX is short for co-extrusion — a process in which several layers of plastic are extruded simultaneously to form a single, multi-layered container wall. Our COEX containers typically consist of two to four layers, with four being the most common.

Because each layer can be a different material, the finished container can combine properties that no single plastic offers on its own: the structural strength of one layer, the barrier performance of another, and a food-safe or chemically inert inner surface where required.

What it gives you

Barrier performance
Resistance to moisture, oxygen and chemical migration, which is what determines whether an agrochemical concentrate is still at specification after a year in a warehouse.
Strength and flexibility
Multi-layer walls resist impact and stress cracking better than a single-layer container of the same weight.
Longer shelf life
By slowing the movement of oxygen and moisture through the container wall, COEX extends how long the contents remain stable.

PET Highest Quality Material Grade

PET (polyethylene terephthalate) is highly resistant to moisture, impact and chemicals, making it a dependable choice for packaging everything from food and beverages to industrial and agricultural products. In a COEX structure its durability improves further, adding strength and resistance to damage. PET is also lightweight, easy to handle and recyclable.

Choosing COEX

COEX is not required for every product. For water-based household detergents and similar contents, standard HDPE performs well and costs less. COEX earns its place with agrochemicals, solvents, veterinary preparations and anything with a long expected shelf life.

Twenty-eight of our containers are available in COEX. Our team will work with you to determine whether your contents need it — and if they do, which layer structure suits them.
